A turnaround cannot be achieved without strategic management, which includes defining the company's mission, vision and objectives, review of the organization, designing the transformation process and developing strategies to achieve the objectives.

The lecture covers an effective turnaround process, which is designed based on experience. The process focuses on 6 important common key areas, which have been the basic tool for effective and successful turnarounds in various business sectors in several countries.

Management in Eastern European countries

What in general is required of a leader in an Eastern European country is not that different than what is required in other countries. One must always be able to articulate a vision, set goals, develop strategies and implement them. But very differently and importantly is that one must be especially very vigilant with a good sense of the situation all the time. Furthermore, one must be able to establish a good strategic and respected relationship with the authorities.

This lecture covers top management experiences in Eastern European countries, and what one might encounter in a country such as Georgia, where Mogens Hansen has lived and worked for 8 years. There will also be given good advice and what is important to take into consideration when operating in an Eastern European country.

Profile

Mogens Hansen has more than 25 years of experience from international management positions as CEO / Managing Director in Costa Rica, Panama, USA, South Africa, Turkey and Georgia. He has been with the Borden Foods Corporation and Nestle within the FMCG sector and the Greenoak Group within the oil, transport and port industry, energy and textile sector.

The common thread has been in the turnaround of various types of companies, streamlining of companies with a focus on productivity improvements and development of the company's employees. Furthermore, it has been in building trust, creating effective organizations, creating growth and development and achieving impressive results.

Since the sale of the majority of the business group in Georgia, Mogens Hansen has changed business career with an emphasis on the managerial side and international competence. The main focus is on assisting other company´s management with turnarounds and value creation, serving on company boards and giving lectures.
